Chinoiserie Style

It’s kind of hard to say whether you might be a fan of Chinoiserie style these days, since it has sort of become a more general term in design & encompasses so many different looks now. The style originated in Chinese culture, & became popular in colonial-era Europe in the 18th century. It is traditionally very stylized & a kind of over-the-top decor (in my opinion), but in more modern times is tied in often to Rococo style – cleaner & more updated. Things We Love – Wallpapered Foyers

There’s that old saying, “You only get one chance to make a first impression,” and for your house, that first impression is your entry or foyer. My favorite foyers are ones that have a distinct footprint – I like to step inside to a foyer that is it’s own space, then move on into the rest of the house.   The store moved into our Lovers Lane space in 2007, and when we did, we made some pretty significant changes to the interior of the store so it flowed and showed better. The space has apparently been many things in previous lives – at one point it was broken up into some mixture of tanning salon + wedding dress boutique + nail salon and maybe a little lunch spot, too.
