I am a longtime reader & fan of Erin Gates’ blog Elements of Style. Erin lives in Boston, & is a designer but also a lover of fashion & culture so her blog is always a fun read. Just as seen through the internet, she also seems like a genuinely nice person & is all the more endearing for how transparent she has been in some of her struggles, namely with a body image/eating disorder – of which one post was published as an article in Ladies’ Home Journal.
Erin & her husband recently bought a house, which they are in the process or redoing. She’s been sharing that process on her blog, & I love what she did with the kitchen! Kitchen redos fascinate me anyway, because it’s such a focal point of any home & the source of such happiness (for me, at any rate).
These are the pictures she showed from the real estate listing. A little dated, right?
They knocked down all the walls & started from scratch.
She picked Luna de Luce/Bianco Macaubus quartzite for her countertops. I love the veining.
This is the view looking into what was the old dining room.
The finished product – isn’t this so pretty? She had me at grasscloth walls. Beautiful cabinetry!
The light fixture for over the table isn’t in yet, apparently, & she teased readers with the 2 she was contemplating but hasn’t revealed the final pick yet.
I just love how light & clean & fresh it is. I like fresh.
According to Erin, it was worth every cent. Didn’t she do a great job? Would you have done anything differently?
