Painted Kitchen Cabinets

If you are new here, you might not know I’m kitchen obsessed.  I dream of my dream kitchen, where I cook meals that everyone raves about, & I waft around from appliance to appliance, cabinet to pantry with an never-ending smile on my face.

One reason I will be so happy in my kitchen is because it will have painted cabinets.  No stained wood for me, thank you very much.

Now I’m not opposed to mixing it up a little – I love the blue on the island, & the beams on the ceiling mixed with the trim on the hood is gorgeous here!

I always think I love white the most, then I see something like this beauty with the grayish-taupe (?) cabinets accented by the dark windows & industrial pendants.  I could seriously waft around here.

This is pretty tasty, too.  I love the creamy cabinets & countertops juxtaposed with the white subway tile & coffured ceilings, & the pretty blue on the island.

Gisele Bundchen’s & Tom Brady’s LA house was recently featured in Architectural Digest with this to-die-for kitchen.  This paint mimics a stain, but is so much prettier than your average stain (to go along with it’s owners, I guess).  I could live with this. (And that arched brick ceiling – GAH!!)

Erin Gates, who I totally adore from her blog Elements of Style, redid her kitchen & chose her lower cabinets to be gray while the upper cabinets are white.  Very pretty, don’t you think?  And she used seagrass that matches the lower cabinets on the walls – as she would say, I DIE!  She is so talented.

In this dreamy kitchen, they used dark cabinets with the same color dark walls & even carried through on the floors, then lightened it with the pecky cypress island (I LOVE LOVE pecky cypress) & marble countertops.  It’s really stunning, but I’m not sure I could waft around here – I would feel like I lived in a photo shoot.  Is that weird?

This is really one of my favorite kitchens from local design talent Tracy Hardenburg.  The white cabinets & countertops are so pretty with the brick that has an antique wash on it to soften it.  So so pretty & creative with the mixture of elements, including the framing of the island & that fabulous hood!

I guess it’s a good thing I don’t have to pick my dream kitchen right now.  It might be a re-do project every couple of months!  What about you – painted cabinets?  White or color?
